Kent Food Hubs is all about helping the community, so you'll start by getting to know us. We'll introduce you to our hub coordinators, directors, other traders and our consumers. You'll get a sense of how we work and what potential there is for you to offer your products in our hubs.
Our initial conversations will help us both to establish if you're ready to join us on a journey that revolutionises the food system by prioritising people and planet over profits.
Once we've got to know each other, we'll send you an invitation to join Kent Food Hubs. This invitation will contain a form that gathers all the information we need to work with you: your official business name, address, bank details, and so on. We'll also ask you to provide us with two documents:
After we've got to know each other a little bit we'll send you an invitation to join (via email). This invitation will contain a form that gathers all the information we need to work with you; e.g. your official business name, address, bank details, and so on. You will also be asked to provide us with two documents:
Statement of Intent: A statement in which you outline your current practices and intentions and make commitments to improve your ways of working.
Trader Agreement: This is an agreement we sign that sets out the basic conditions of our formal relationship.
This provides us with an insight into how serious you are about improving your own practices. We want to see that you're moving in the right direction to help people and our environment. We won't use this statement to judge the way you run your business, but we will use it to evaluate how committed you are to being a part of the change we're creating at Kent Food Hubs.
The Statement of Intent is an opportunity for you, as a trader and business person, to think through the impact that your business has on our world and the people living in it. If we think there's more work for you to do before you join us, we'll get back to you with helpful suggestions - so don't worry if your statement isn't perfect. Most importantly, we want to see that you're aware of how your business impacts important matters like inequality, climate change and pollution, and what steps you're taking to make positive change.
You can review the criteria below that we use to assess your Statement of Intent. If you have any questions, the hub coordinators you've been speaking to will be happy to help.
If we think there's more work to do, we'll get back to you with helpful suggestions - we won't just reject your Statement of Intent. Only in very rare cases, where a trader's values really don't align with our own, would we call it a day and use our limited resources to support someone else.
This outlines our expectations of you as a trader and the things that you can expect from us. It gives us both deadlines to follow so we can make sure we satisfy the needs of the consumers we want to serve.
You can download and review the document below. If you have any questions, the hub coordinators will be happy to help.
Once we've processed your application, we'll let you know by email. We'll tell you about the next steps so that you can start selling your products as soon as possible.
If you are keen to get going, you can go ahead and start doing some of the next steps (outlined in this guide).
Please bear in mind that we may not be able to agree on your Statement of Intent immediately - you may wish to wait until you've had a final decision from us.
