Questions about shopping with Kent Food Hubs.

Where do I go to shop?

This depends on where you live. Currently you can shop online and pick up in Folkestone and Ashford.

Where does the stuff come from?

As much as possible comes from Kent. We try to source anything else (bananas, rice, toiletries and so on) that we don't produce here in conscious ways, considering both people and planet.

Who gets the money I pay for my shopping?

Most of your money goes to the people that made your stuff (the traders). Traders name the price for their produce (this is what they need to make a decent living) and we add as little as possible on top of that so we can run Kent Food Hubs: 12% of the value of your shopping basket if you are not a regular contributor to KFHs and 10% for regular contributors.

Can I visit suppliers and/or producers?

We believe in being transparent about where our food comes from. All of our traders agree to member visits before they decide to sell through our hubs, and we organise these throughout the year.

Can I shop without creating an account?

Yes, just add things to your basket and choose 'Checkout as guest'.

How do I shop at the reduced rate?

You can reduce the usual 12% rate we add to your shopping to 10% by signing up as a contributor.

When you sign up as a contributor, please make sure you use the same email address that you use to register on the Open Food Network (where you're doing your shopping). This allows us to apply the discount to the right people (the ones who pay their membership!)

What if I forgot to add something to my order?

If the order cycle is still open, please submit an additional order.

If the order cycle is closed, you can either:

  1. Wait until the next order cycle opens and place a new order then.

  2. Try to buy it in person during pickup. Note that the stock available will depend on which traders are there during pickup. Contact your local Hub Coordinator for more information.

What if something is wrong with my order?

Please contact your local Hub Coordinator.

What is the returns policy?

If you wish to return an item, please contact the Hub Coordinator as soon as possible. We may apply a credit to your account or, in some circumstances, refund the amount. This is at the Hub Coordinator's discretion.
